The Spirit of Bundaberg Festival returns in 2015

Spirit of Bundaberg Festival will return to the distillery grounds on Saturday 9th May, bringing together an incredible line-up of Australian performers to be showcased alongside the best Bundaberg has to offer in food, drink and community spirit. Legendary Australian rock rabblerousers and ten-time Aria winners, You Am I, will headline the first of the bi-annual festivals for 2015.  Two decades on from their first album release, You Am I have not only had one of the longest and most successful recording careers in Australia, but are also one of our most loved live bands. Featuring guitarist and vocalist Tim Rogers along with band mates Russell Hopkinson on drums, Andy Kent on Bass, and (since 1999) Davey Lane on guitar, You Am I have released ten, successful studio albums to date. Also joining the stage will be: Victorian psych-rock sisters Stonefield, Melbourne’s one-man music making machine, Harts, banjo wielding bluesman, Karl S Williams, and Brisbane-based slacker rockers, Babaganouj. “The Spirit of Bundaberg Festival is our way of paying back to the community and we want to deliver a unique music lineup that engages music fans from all genres,” Senior Brand Manager for Bundaberg Rum, Duncan Littler said.  “We believe that this event will become one of Queensland’s premier festivals and we’re excited to showcase some of the best Australian music acts alongside the best Bundaberg has to offer.” The region’s biggest free music festival will bring together locals, travellers and rum lovers to enjoy a huge array of activities including, food stalls, cocktail master classes, the famous Brewed and Crafted Bar, the Bundaberg Distillatorium and more. The team at the BDC will transform the distillery grounds into a lively festival arena open to the public from 10am to 5pm. The celebration will also mark the latest release of Bundaberg Rum’s Master Distillers’ Collection (MDC).  Each year, the MDC releases a new blend in limited, numbered bottles and will proudly release the 2015 Blenders Edition to kick-off festivities on the day. This year’s remarkable rum is a complex blend layered with delicate hints of raisins, spice and tobacco, coupled with a long and exceptionally smooth finish.  Queuing for the Blenders Edition will begin from 12noon on Friday 8th May. Local gelataria Nana’s Pantry have created a custom range of gelato using Bundaberg Rum Royal Liqueur to be available exclusively at the event.  The delicious flavours will include Bundaberg Coffee & Chocolate and the highly anticipated new Bundaberg Banana and Toffee flavour, which is the first new flavour release for the range in the past 50 years.
