The Veronicas made their long anticipated return to the music scene! It’s been six long years since Brisbane born twins Jess and Lisa Origliasso released an album; now to the delight of many fans the girls are back … 4ever!
Ending the Australian leg of The Sanctified Tour in their hometown, Brisbane City Hall was packed with long standing fans eager to witness the rebirth of Australia’s favourite pop duo. Opening with a video montage that reminisced the girl’s career from the rock n’ roll days of ‘Everything I’m Not’ to the recent ballad ‘You Ruin Me,’ the crowd was overwhelmed with a sense of nostalgia. It was the perfect prelude to welcome the latex clad girls on stage, belting tunes from their third, up-coming eponymous album.
From the very beginning of the night, The Veronicas established an intimate theatrical experience that placed an inevitable emphasis on their vocal brilliance. While parts of the concert were very rock n’ roll, it was juxtaposed with emotional, ballad filled sets that allowed the girls to chat with the audience and give a shout out to their Nonna proudly watching on! The girls openly addressed the struggles they had faced and their desire to send a message of love, all of which added to the likeability of the pint-sized rock stars and sustained the intimate atmosphere. What do you do when it all falls apart? According to the girls, keep your head held high and never give up.
There is no denying the twins have an electric stage presence and a dedicated fan base that have stood by them for the last ten years. In every sense, The Veronicas are the epitome of international music success grounded by modesty and an aura of humbleness. The Sanctified tour was brilliant, showcasing the prestigious talent and vocal skills of the girls. The intimacy of the show combined with the musical nostalgia circa 2006, created a fantastic atmosphere that proved The Veronicas will always remain Australia’s princesses of pop!
