Wicked Gold Coast’s cast has landed on the coast kicking off rehearsals for the highly anticipated production taking to HOTA’s stage from June 25 to July 6.

With over two hundred hours of rehearsals across the five weeks, the seasoned lead cast and ensemble have started the process of stepping into their famed characters, ready to deliver an unforgettable performance. While also taking some time for an unmasked shoot which is featured here.

Principal leads, Emily Monsma ‘Glinda’, Samantha Dodemaide ‘Elphaba’, Trent Owers ‘Fieyro’, James Shaw ‘The Wizard of Oz’, Antonia Marr ‘Nessarose’, Tim Carroll ‘Boq’, Shannon Foley ‘Dr. Dillamond’, will join recently announced Australian Broadway talent, Kaye Tuckerman, as ‘Madame Morrible’ to deliver the beloved untold story of the witches of Oz.

Director, Tim Hill, said he is very excited to see the show come to life over the next few weeks as his cast transforms into their onstage personas.

“We are working with a wonderful collaborative group – from some of the most seasoned to new up-and-coming musical theatre talent, “ he said.

“It’s a truly magical time at the beginning of any rehearsal process and all indications so far are that audiences are in for a real treat from our cast and crew for the Gold Coast performances.”

Mr Hill said that his lead cast and ensemble were seamlessly connecting with the storyline which they will make their own.

“It’s thrilling to see all the moving pieces come together, which will all be revealed on opening night.”

An additional twenty talented local performers have also been cast as part of the ensemble to deliver a high tech, high energy rendition of the iconic production.

The magic of Oz will come to life with special features never experienced before, including digital design by local Gold Coast company, IKONIX, complementing an imaginative set design by Maria-Rose Payne (THOR, Aquaman, RENT).

Audiences can catch WICKED – the untold story about the unlikely but profound friendship between two young women who first meet as students and take very different paths to fulfil their destinies – from June 25 to July 6 at HOTA, Home of the Arts.
