Chaz Mostert is back in business after dominating Saturday’s race at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 to win by a gargantuan 23 seconds. The Walkinshaw TWG Racing driver delivered a sensational performance on the streets of the Gold Coast, securing the 200th race win in the history of his team.
Amid consistent rain, Saturday’s 85-lap race started behind the Safety Car before the field took the green flag on Lap 4. Mostert passed pole sitter Broc Feeney at speed at the end of the first lap and never looked back. The result marks Mostert’s fifth win on the Gold Coast streets and his third in a row at his home race, following his double victory in 2025 that kickstarted his charge to his maiden Supercars title.
The performance represents a sensational bounce back for both team and driver. Just a fortnight ago, Mostert crashed heavily at the Bathurst 1000, requiring Walkinshaw TWG Racing to prepare a spare chassis for him to compete this weekend.
Behind Mostert, Team 18’s David Reynolds finished second to claim his second podium of the season. Championship leader Matt Payne completed the podium in third place, despite receiving a five-second penalty for excessive use of track limits.
Having entered the weekend as the eighth seed in the Supercars Finals, Mostert’s Saturday victory earns him an automatic berth in the second round of the Finals at Sandown Raceway.
Action continues tomorrow with Race 32 on-track from 11:20 a.m. AEST, ahead of the final 85-lap race of the weekend at 2:45 p.m. Following Sunday’s race, the three lowest scoring Finals drivers will be eliminated from championship contention.
