Australia’s legendary rock band, Cold Chisel, has exciting news for its fans. As part of their golden jubilee celebrations, “The Big Five-0” tour will be hitting our shores, with a special performance slated for the Gold Coast. This tour promises to be a monumental celebration of five decades of music, camaraderie, and unforgettable performances.

The tour kicks off in Armidale, a place with significant historical ties to the band, as Cold Chisel based themselves there in the early ’70s while band-member Don Walker completed his university studies. From there, the tour will sweep across the country, culminating in Adelaide, where the band formed.

One of the most exciting stops on the tour is the Gold Coast. On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will be echoing with the iconic sounds of Chisel. The Tour is a celebration of the band’s love for performing together. The band members’ deep connection and passion for their craft shine through in their performances, making each concert a unique experience.

The setlist promises to feature all the classic hits that have cemented Cold Chisel’s place in the halls of Oz Rock history. Fans can look forward to belting out the lyrics to songs like Khe Sanh, Bow River, Flame Trees, and many more.

Cold Chisel’s legacy has been built not only on their music but also on their unforgettable live performances. The band’s shows have often been as unpredictable as they are exciting, with their ‘An Evening with the Circus Animals’ shows in 1982 standing as a testament to their theatrical flair. Fans can expect the same level of excitement and unpredictability from the upcoming tour.

The Gold Coast show will feature a special guest performance by soulful singer/songwriter Karen Lee Andrews. Known for her powerful vocals and emotive lyrics, Andrews is the perfect complement to a night filled with the classic rock sounds of Cold Chisel.

Tickets for the Gold Coast show will be available to the general public from 12.00pm (local times) on Tuesday, 4 June. It’s expected to be a sell-out event, so fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment.

The tour provides a rare opportunity for fans of all ages to see the band in action and sing their songs to them one more time. It’s a celebration not just of Cold Chisel’s music but also of the band’s enduring connection with their fans, who have been an integral part of their 50-year journey.

As Jimmy Barnes, recently stated when asked about Cold Chisel’s status, “Cold Chisel are never apart. We’re as close as brothers,” he said. “Some of the best moments of my life have been spent on stage with those boys, and I hope we keep going ‘til the day we drop.”

With a new album set to release just over a month prior to these gigs, and the promise of a night filled with musical surprises, “The Big Five-0” tour is gearing up to be an unforgettable experience for all Chisel fans. As Don Walker, the band’s piano player and chief songwriter, succinctly put it: “This 50th anniversary tour will be a huge celebration – for all of us.”

The band’s golden anniversary is an opportunity for fans to reminisce about the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future of one of Australia’s most beloved rock bands. So, mark your calendars, secure your tickets, and get ready to rock out with Cold Chisel on the Gold Coast. It’s a night that you won’t want to miss.
