What was, what is and what will be! GC2018 Surfers paradise!
As you walk through Cavil Mall or Broadbeach Main Street, you would be surprised to see the changes that have sprung into existence. All the pain of blocked roads changed travel conditions and construction vehicles have given way to a cultural and spiritual festival celebrating everything Australia has to offer.
You are greeted with thousands of revellers admiring the rich changes from huge stages filled nightly with international and national acts such as Electric Lady, Yothu Yindi, The Cat Empire and The Spirit of Churaki to name a few. The stage alone isn’t the only change. The Esplanade if filled with bright Art, rich culture, interactive activities, open-air movies and performers to entertain the old and young alike.
Festival 2018’s aim is to celebrate the gold coast and the local artists and culture it has to offer. With this aim, the festival has easily immersed locals and visitors with a deeper understanding of what makes the Gold Coast one of the top destinations in the world. On any given day the sight of families and friends fill the streets, generations coming together to share a rich new experience.
What does this mean for the future of the Gold Coast? With the idea of sustainability in mind, the new changes have shown that the Gold Coast is more than equipped for future national and international events. The Surfers esplanade is easily converted into walking access only with ample room for performers, stage construction able to be started and completed in one day and local safety a paramount and easily attainable commodity.
The Gold Coast city council not only has shown it can think of the future but with its new plans for a cultural hub only a stone’s throw from Surfers paradise, it will easily skyrocket the Gold Coast from its great heights to one of even greater!
If you have been avoiding the Surfers or Broad Beach Precinct, it is highly recommended that you grab a hat, some friends and family and enjoy the day using the light rail or bicycles to move between the main festival sites. The GC2018 Festival is slowly working towards its finale so don’t miss these amazing free events.
