Hard Fizz Unveils Extra Strength Range with a Nostalgic 'Big' Twist

Australia’s own Hard FIZZ, known for its refreshing ready-to-drink beverages, is making waves once again. This time, they’re launching an extra strength range that’s sure to leave an impression. What’s more, they’ve done it with a viral social media clip that pays homage to a beloved Australian beer commercial.

The clip, created by the Queensland-based company founded by Grammy-nominated DJ FISHER, is a playful satire of the iconic Carlton Draught TV commercial from 2005. If you’re familiar with the original, you’ll remember two choirs of robe-clad men singing “it’s a big ad” to the grand tune of “O Fortuna” by German composer Carl Orff.

In this new rendition by Hard FIZZ, set to the same orchestral music, you’ll find a crowd of cardboard cutouts featuring none other than FISHER himself, each proudly holding an extra strength can on a picturesque beach. Meanwhile, a cutout of the ‘Losing It’ hitmaker delivers an electrifying performance to this unusual audience.

This cheeky clip quickly took the internet by storm, garnering more than 100,000 views within its first hour online. Joel Scott, head of marketing at Hard FIZZ, comments on the inspiration behind the clip, saying, “It’s a bit of a laugh, for sure, but we thought, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, so let’s do it. That ad is part of Australian folklore, so it’s a trip down memory lane for us. It wasn’t initially deliberate, but the refrain, ‘it’s a big ad,’ actually sounds like, ‘it’s a fizz ad.’”

But that’s not all; this clip is just the first in a three-part series. Scott teases, “extra strength has been in the works for a long time now, and we wanted to come out with a bang with it. I can’t say too much just yet, but standby. The real FISHER might even make an appearance at some point.”

Hard FIZZ’s extra strength range is a significant step forward for the brand, featuring a 6% alcohol content and a fuller flavor profile. It’s a move aimed at meeting the evolving preferences of consumers who seek more robust drink options. The range includes four enticing flavors: raspberry, lemon lime, grape, and cola. Each can packs a punch at 1.6 standard drinks, up from the 1 standard drink found in their core range.

You won’t have trouble finding these extra strength delights; they’re available in 2500 outlets across Australia, including popular stores like BWS, Dan Murphys, Cellarbrations, Bottle-O, and IGA Liquor. Additionally, a mixed 10 pack variety is set to launch nationally with Liquorland and First Choice Liquor.

Coincidentally, the release of the new social media clip aligns with the announcement that FISHER will be performing at LIV Golf’s season-ending event in Miami, USA, in October. Notably, FISHER made headlines earlier this year at an Australian golf tournament in Adelaide when he took to the course and attempted to do a ‘shoey’ with golfer Cameron Smith, using an extra strength can.

Wade Tiller, CEO of Hard FIZZ, emphasizes that the extra strength range is all about providing consumers with another option. He states, “Some occasions absolutely call for a harder drink. Hard FIZZ has always been about ‘crew,’ and extra strength ensures no one’s left out. This is a range we’ve been working on for a while behind the scenes, so we’re very excited to finally release it.”

With its extra strength range and a viral social media clip that captures the essence of Australian nostalgia, Hard FIZZ continues to innovate and bring its unique brand of fun to the ready-to-drink beverage market. Stay tuned for more exciting developments from this Queensland RTD and its talented founder, DJ FISHER. Cheers to fizzing it up with a bit of extra strength!
