Today we are catching up with Kymberlee Street of New South Wales, one of the 27 talented and inspiring women from all walks of life who are hoping to be crowned Miss Universe Australia 2022.
So Kymberlee, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?
Officially I am a finance and accounting graduate, a model full time and a business owner of a skincare business ( Defence Skincare ). Unofficially, I am a very adventurous person who loves to travel, explore and try new things. Some of my hobbies include scuba diving, cycling, pilates, playing netball and going to the beach.
We all have motivations, mine usually revolving around good coffee, but what was your key motivation for entering Miss Universe Australia?
My key motivations going into Miss Universe Australia are continuing my personal growth and self-development, the opportunities to work and meet some incredible people and be an ambassador, and inspiring other women around me to forever pursue their passions and chase their dreams.
As part of the program, you recently spent time in our hometown of the Gold Coast with the Village Roadshow team; what was the experience like?
It was the most amazing experience! Super grateful to be part of the program, especially sharing this journey with the other 27 incredible women, making some very special friendships.
I also love theme parks and was super excited to try out all the rides, including the DC Rivals Hypercoaster at MovieWorld and the Aqualoop at Wet n Wild. The team were so accommodating and made the visit fun, exciting and thrilling! I definitely recommend to anyone wanting to explore Australia to visit the Gold Coast and see what Village Roadshow has to offer!
What would you say was the highlight of your trip?
The highlight of my trip would definitely be my official swimwear shoot; this day was also my birthday which made it very special and memorable.
Working with the A team, at an amazing location in Seaworld, hair, makeup and swimwear on point and in amongst the dolphins! I can’t wait to see the final shots!
With everyone bringing their own unique and individual flair to the program, what is something that sets you apart from the other contestants?
It may sound cliché but staying humble and being true to myself. I don’t believe that there is just one unique trait that I possess. I like to showcase all the different qualities and attributes that have shaped me to be the person I am today, including my mixed ethnicity, degree, business owner, my life experiences, passions and hobbies that I want to share and inspire others, thus being unapologetically myself.
Your next question comes from our current Miss Universe Australia, Daria Varlamova; in your opinion, what are the most important qualities that a Miss Universe Australia embodies?
The top 3 qualities I believe a Miss Universe Australia should embody are
Accountability – remembering their responsibilities as a title holder and having a positive influence on those around her.
Humility- thinking and acting for the greater good, being grateful and having an appreciation of life
Compassionate of heart- being kind, warm-hearted and understanding and respectful of others.
Now travel is back on the cards; where is your favourite place to travel to?
Anywhere warm and tropical and definitely close to the water. I would love to go travelling and exploring more of the Philippines, go island hopping and embrace my Filipino heritage.
What is something people may find interesting about you?
I have a mixed background of Filipino and Australian. Growing up and experiencing both cultures allowed me to have a greater appreciation of cultural differences and traditions, showcasing how multicultural and diverse our beautiful country is.
Tell us something you’re passionate about and why?
I am passionate about my skincare business. Guiding people through their skincare journeys and helping them feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. Empowering them to practice self-care, helping them to reach that healthy glow and embrace their natural beauty.
