Gold Coast listeners are set to wake up to a refreshed breakfast radio line-up in 2025, with Leisel Jones and Liam Flanagan officially joining Peter “Spida” Everitt on 92.5 Triple M Gold Breakfast from January 13. The trio promises a mix of local humour, news, sport, and entertainment, with a focus on engaging the Gold Coast community each weekday morning.

The announcement comes as a major shake-up for the station following the departure of Spida’s long-time co-host Ali Plath last month. Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), the parent company of Triple M, has expressed excitement about the new line-up, signalling a commitment to delivering locally-focused content.

The New Voices of 92.5 Triple M Gold Coast Breakfast

Leisel Jones, an Australian swimming legend and nine-time Olympic medallist, is no stranger to the Gold Coast or the airwaves. After retiring from professional swimming following the London Olympics in 2012, Jones has carved a new path as an author, commentator, and now a familiar voice on radio. Since 2022, she’s been co-hosting the Brisbane-based Rush Hour program alongside Liam Flanagan, connecting with listeners through relatable stories and light-hearted humour.

Reflecting on her return to the Gold Coast, Jones shared her enthusiasm:
“I’m so excited to return to the Coast where I spent many years cruising through Pac Fair, dining at the OG Hellenika at Nobby’s and swimming at Burleigh. The Goldie is where my heart feels at home, and I’m looking forward to sharing my life (and bad dating stories) alongside my good mates, Liam and Spida. Let’s have some fun over your morning Weet-Bix!”

Liam Flanagan, a Gold Coast local who began his career with Triple M over a decade ago, is equally thrilled about the opportunity. With experience as both a drive show host and sports commentator, Flanagan brings a unique energy to the new breakfast slot.
“I am beyond excited about ripping into the new year with Spida and Leisel,” Flanagan said. “The Gold Coast gets up earlier than any other place on the planet, and there’s an energy in the mornings here that you can’t find anywhere else. To get the opportunity to reflect that energy every morning in the studio alongside two sporting greats is a pinch-me moment.”

The duo will join long-standing breakfast host Peter “Spida” Everitt, who has been a key voice on the station for 12 years. A former AFL player turned media personality, Everitt is known for his quick wit, local knowledge, and love for the Gold Coast community. His travel show, The Great Australian Doorstep, which he co-produces with his wife Sheree, has also cemented his place as a well-loved figure in Australian media.

Everitt is ready to embrace the changes coming to 92.5 Triple M Gold Coast, saying:
“I’m really looking forward to an exciting change that the Gold Coast needs in breakfast radio! New ideas, new fun, and, as the longest continuous breakfast announcer on the Gold Coast, you know it will be absolutely local!”

The launch of the new breakfast show coincides with a broader reorganisation across the Triple M network. The Brisbane edition of The Rush Hour, previously hosted by Jones, Flanagan, and Ben “Dobbo” Dobbin, will be replaced by the syndicated Marty Sheargold Show.

Triple M’s Chief Content Officer, Dave Cameron, emphasised the network’s commitment to localism:
“The Triple M Network continues to have a steadfast approach to locally focused breakfast shows in 2025, hosted by much-loved local identities in each city that connect with local audiences and clients. The Gold Coast is no exception!”

Cameron also acknowledged outgoing co-host Ali Plath, thanking her for her contribution to the station over the past three years..

As for the new team, the chemistry between Jones, Flanagan, and Everitt is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to Gold Coast mornings. With Triple M’s promise of delivering “Good Times and Greatest Hits,” listeners can expect a fun and engaging start to their day, filled with relatable banter and a strong focus on the local community.

92.5 Triple M Gold Coast Breakfast with Leisel, Liam, and Spida officially launches on Monday, January 13, 2025, and will air weekdays from 5 to 9 AM.
