The 2026 Queensland Maroons State of Origin Game I squad has been revealed, featuring four debutants ready for Sydney on May 27.

State of Origin season is officially upon us, and the Queensland Rugby League has just dropped the 20-man Maroons squad for Game I of the 2026 series. The team is heading into camp in Brisbane today to kick off preparations for the series opener, which will take place at Sydney's Accor Stadium on May 27.

Fresh Faces and Big Returns

Coach Billy Slater has put together a squad that balances serious experience with an injection of new talent. Fourteen players from last year's series will be pulling on the jersey again, providing a solid foundation for the opening clash.

The big news is the four players who have earned their debut Maroons jerseys. Fans will be thrilled to see Jojo Fifita from the Gold Coast Titans, Sam Walker from the Sydney Roosters, Max Plath from the Dolphins, and Briton Nikora from the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks step up to the State of Origin arena.

We are also seeing some welcome returns to Origin football. Dolphins duo Selwyn Cobbo and Thomas Flegler have earned their spots back in the lineup after a string of consistent performances over the opening 11 rounds of the NRL season.
