Miss Universe Aus QLD Finalist interview - Olivia Bosshard

Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with State finals kicking off across the country.
Later this month at the Hotel Grand Chancellor , Surfers Paradise the judging panel will select the Queensland representatives in the 2015 Pageant.

Starting off our state finalist interviews we chat with Olivia Bosshard one of the contestants who will be competing for a place in the national final held on June 5 at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins where the countries finalists will be competing for the 2015 title.

Congratulations on Making it so far in the coveted miss universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself …?
Thank you so much! Well I come from a surfy little town called Coffs Harbour and have lived in the Gold Coast for the past 2 years studying ‘Sport Management’. I now work with kids as an outdoor recreation and surf instructor. In my spare time I love to surf and am currently writing a sort of inspirational/help book for young girls.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia Pageant …? What drew you to such a competition ….
Well I had always been told by some friends to enter and had never gotten around to it, I entered just for fun with no expectations at all, but to make some friends and be myself! I love that it is a competition where you can be a role model for younger women as this is something I always try to do whether through youth work, my job or through my life and social media.

Speaking of inspiration who inspires you most …?My absolute biggest inspiration has always been Bethany Hamilton. I love that despite her circumstances she chose to have joy and learnt to surf again with one arm, I’d like to think that I could be like that, that no matter what entered my life good or bad, that I could overcome it with joy and that that in itself would be an inspiration to others. As I said earlier I love any chance I get to influence the life of younger girls, I think that some really great attributes of a good role model is that they are completely themselves and confident in who they are as a woman and person, as well as simple things like honesty, loyalty and kindness; all the things that make you beautiful on the inside and shine on the outside.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are their any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to  use the platform of miss universe to advance …?
Yes of course! A charity that is really close to my heart is ‘destiny rescue’, which gets children out of sex slavery (especially young women) and offers them a better life through counselling, a home and things to fill their life with meaning and purpose such as a job and education.

What do you think will set you out from the rest  of the entrants competing in the 2015 competition …?There are so many lovely beautiful girls in this competition, I think just being real and being myself sets me apart, whether it be goofing around backstage or just through the honesty in my answers.

What would you say is your best style or beauty secret …?Hmm my best style is probably a bit different to most. Salty ocean water is so good for your skin and gives your hair a nice beachy wave, so I guess style would have to be a “beach style”. For a beauty secret; I’m a firm believer in what you put in you get out, so drinking lots of water, exercising and eating a balanced diet.

And speaking of personal style fitness is fast becoming more and more a part of the person’s personal style … how would you describe your fitness regime …?I live a very active lifestyle… My fitness regime is mostly filled with cardio, I love surfing most mornings (sometimes twice a day), going for a beach run blasting some beats followed by an intense 15-30 minutes of toning and strengthening workouts. Mostly surfing it’s an all-round great workout, I’d go a little crazy without it I think.

We all have a personal saying or particular mantra what would you say yours is ..?I feel like I have so many of them, one of my favorites I have had for a while is “live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one would believe it”.

Now the Quick 5

1. What is something people might find interesting about yourself …?I come from a family of 11 kids and I am number 10, so growing up was crazy fun, much like the movie ‘cheaper by the dozen’.

2. Your favourite place in the world to wind down and relax ..?My absolute favourite place is Fingal. I love sitting near the little lighthouse and watching the dolphins which seem to always be there.

What song would you say is  your personal anthem or theme song …?
At the moment It would probably have to be Taylor Swift “shake it off”…

If you could give yourself one piece of advice 5 years ago what would it be …?I would tell myself not to miss opportunities, take chances and live life to the fullest without regret.

and What are five things in your life you just can’t live without …?
My Surfboard
The Beach
My Family
My Faith & Morals
and Chai Tea
