Miss Universe Aus QLD Finalist interview - Shenae Palmer

Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with State finals kicking off across the country.
Later this month at the Hotel Grand Chancellor , Surfers Paradise the judging panel will select the Queensland representatives in the 2015 Pageant.

Starting off our state finalist interviews we chat with Shenae Palmer one of the contestants who will be competing for a place in the national final held on June 5 at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins where the countries finalists will be competing for the 2015 title.

Congratulations on Making it so far in the coveted miss universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself …?
My name is Shenae Palmer, I’m 20 years old and I was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast in QLD, Australia. After High School I studied acting full time for film and television. My passions include the creative arts, travelling and natural health. I was recently working overseas as a model and am currently between assignments.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia Pageant …? What drew you to such a competition ….Friends and family members have asked me in the past whether I would consider entering the competition and to be honest, I never thought I would. I was on the internet late one night and saw 2015 applications were being taken for MUA. I believe in following your intuition so that night I applied.

Speaking of inspiration who inspires you most …?There isn’t just one person that inspires me. I am inspired by different people for different reasons and I don’t think one is more important than the other. For example, Ed Sheeran inspires me because of the quality of his music. He is also lyrically brilliant. I admire my mother because she has shown me how to love and care for a family better than anyone else I know. Anything/everything the universe has to offer can bring inspiration

If you are successful in the pageant you will become a possible inspiration or role model to many young girls how does this sit with you …? And what do you consider are the attributes of a good role model …?A role model to me is someone who makes us see the possibilities within ourselves. It’s not someone who expects you to conform, but someone who dares you to be different. All the previous winners have bought their own special qualities to the table whilst completing their reign as MUA and each have done a brilliant job. I don’t believe there is one way to be a “good” role model. I think the most important thing is to be comfortable with who you are and what you believe in. If I am a role model to many people, not gender or age specific, my message would be to allow yourself to always be you, because just you is enough.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are their any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to  use the platform of miss universe to advance …? I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work with a band whose purpose is to unite musicians all over the world and through music, raise money to help the underprivileged and disadvantaged for many causes. This is something I am very passionate about and with the platform of Miss Universe Australia and my own personal talents, I believe I have the ability to inspire and help people, music speaks all languages. I want to help where I can, one social cause to me is not more important than the other

What do you think will set you out from the rest  of the entrants competing in the 2015 competition …?I believe the composure I gained from regularly performing in public as I grew up will be very helpful. I don’t believe anything can really prepare you for a competition like this though, so I am just going to go out there and do my best.

What would you say is your best style or beauty secret …?Beauty literally starts from within. What we put into our bodies internally or the products we use externally reflect our inner health and outer beauty. I choose to use natural products because our skin is the largest organ in our body and is also the biggest mouth because everything we apply to it soaks in. I wouldn’t consume chemicals, so why would I put them on my skin.

And speaking of personal style fitness is fast becoming more and more a part of the person’s personal style … how would you describe your fitness regime …?I like to work out 5 – 6 times a week. I change my routine every day so I don’t get bored. I love attending different gym classes and also going for runs along the water front. Getting the motivation to exercise can be difficult sometimes; it’s much easier when you don’t give yourself a choice. Exercise is a way of life. Eating clean gives you more energy so I stick to an organic diet.

We all have a personal saying or particular mantra what would you say yours is ..?I always say, “If you don’t look up you miss half of the world and everything that’s going on around you.”

Now the Quick 5

1. What is something people might find interesting about yourself …?. At 13years old I recorded an EP (CD) with my own original songs. When I was young I was a tomboy. I never played with dolls.

2. Your favourite place in the world to wind down and relax ..?. Boracay Island, Philippines.

What song would you say is  your personal anthem or theme song …?
. The songs I listen to are based on the way I feel at the time. My playlist is constantly changing but for the past few months a favourite of mine has been Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

If you could give yourself one piece of advice 5 years ago what would it be …?You are a product of your environment. Surround yourself with people and things who inspire you and make you happy.

and What are five things in your life you just can’t live without …?
. My family, l have all the love in the world for them!
. Music – “Music is the gateway to every emotion buried on this earth and inside us.”
. My phone, maybe a week but not a life time LOL.
. Food and water, for obvious reason :p
. A smile, what’s the point in living if you aren’t happy 🙂
