It was a sea of sparkles and an array of gorgeous women at the Miss Universe state finals on Thursday. The high tea event was held at The Grand Chancellor Hotel Surfers Paradise for all the friends, family and judges of the Miss Universe Finalists. Guests mingled and enjoyed scones, sandwiches and champagne before the event started.
The stunning contenders walked with grace down the red carpet in front of the crowd and the judges. Everyone kept a beautiful smile on their face as they glided past celebrity judges consisting of My Kitchen Rules representatives, Jake and Elle Harrison.
After giving an introduction of themselves to the crowd, the girls went and got ready for the next section of the pageant- and the favourite of some, the swimwear category. Amongst them, the girls wore a mixture of beautiful one-pieces and bikinis in a gorgeous summer colour palette showing off their bronzed summer tans.
Up next, it was time for the eveningwear category. All of the contenders looked incredible as they took to the red carpet in their glamorous floor length gowns. Then came one of the least favourite sections of the pageant, question and answer time.
One by one, each of the Queensland beauties had their turn in front of the microphone to answer a randomly drawn question. The girls did fabulously well answering questions about multiculturalism, sun safety, youth culture and road safety.
When all questions were answered, the judges discussed and tallied up their scores as the contestants walked down the red carpet one last time. Only 6 out of the ladies would be chosen to go to Melbourne to represent Queensland at the Crowning ceremony for Miss Universe Australia.
Congratulations and good luck to Madeleine Cowe, Silka Kurzak, Gabrielle Epstien, Teagan Downey, Eleea Navarro & Danielle Johnson for making it through to the next round. Congratulations to all of the contestants for making it this far.
