Miss Universe Australia Qld finalist - Amanda Vallance

Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with state finals kicking off across the country.
Starting off our home state interviews is Amanda Vallance one of the contestants who will be competing for a place in the national final held later this year in Melbourne at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 where the nations finalists will be competing for the title of Miss Universe Australia 2016.

Congratulations on making it so far in the coveted Miss Universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself..?
I am the owner and instructor of Mouse’s Swim School. A mobile swim school which teaches the importance of water safety for people of all ages. I just love being able to be a part of ending preventable drownings. My dream is to step up a charity which allows free swim lessons for disadvantaged children, refugees and people with learning difficulties. I am very passionate about this dream and will not stop until I achieve it.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia pageant?
I have always wanted to give it a go, and this is the year. I would love to be a positive role model for women and be able to get my message across to put an end to preventable drownings as Australia, in particular, is very water active, whether it’s going to be beach and having a pool party.

Speaking of inspiration what inspires you most?
Lots things inspire me, people, who are passionate about things they love or what they do. In particular, Julie Bishop is a big inspiration for me, the way she handled and conducted herself with the inquiry into the MH17 disaster and the accolades she received from other strong independent woman – Angela Merkel.

What is something that you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia pageant?
I hope to bring out the best in myself, not to lose who I am but improve and be able to bring out the best in everyone around me.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are there any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to use the platform of Miss Universe to advance?
I would love to be able to use Miss Universe to help put an end to drownings by setting up my charity to allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy and feel safe around the water.

The rivalry between states is sure to be heightened this year why do you think? Queensland is the best state to take out Miss Universe Australia. Queensland is the best state, having lived in Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales, we are by far the friendliest and fun city. All of the Queensland girls are so fantastic and fun to be with; we’ve got this.
