Miss Universe Australia Qld Finalist - Emma Kent

Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with state finals kicking off across the country.
Starting off our home state interviews is Emma Kent one of the contestants who will be competing for a place in the national final held later this year in Melbourne at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 where the nations finalists will be competing for the title of Miss Universe Australia 2016.

Congratulations on making it so far in the coveted Miss Universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself..?
Thankyou! I feel so lucky that I’ve been accepted. I’m a model/actress from the Gold Coast, I love art, reading, watching movies, dancing and going on adventures.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia pageant?
My amazing friends & mum have told me since I was a little girl that I could be Miss Universe one day, and I was so nervous to take the first step but with their encouragement and support we feel like this was the right year for me to enter.

Speaking of inspiration what inspires you most?
Art and literature, no matter what happens in my life I am always at home in an art gallery or consumed in a book. The unconditional love I receive from everyone in my life also inspires me to work hard. My Miss Universe journey is as much about my family and friends as it is about me, I just want to be able to show them the world and give them incredible experiences. Nothing is worth having unless you can share it.
What is something that you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia pageant?
I hope I make some incredible friendships, (I already have!) and improve my confidence.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are there any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to use the platform of Miss Universe to advance?
I volunteer for CanTeen Australia and I’ve always been passionate about raising awareness for this charity. I’ve also had a tremendous amount of respect for the Ronald McDonald House charity and luckily enough as part of our Miss Universe experience all of us girls get to fundraise for them!

The rivalry between states is sure to be heightened this year why do you think? Queensland is the best state to take out Miss Universe Australia
Queensland girls are headstrong, loyal and competitive. We stick together and want to raise each other up, with so much encouragement I don’t know how a Queensland sister wouldn’t be the one to take out the title!
GETTING TO KNOW YOU

What is something you find yourself always saying …?
I’m always telling everyone something along the lines of ‘you only live once.’ I strongly believe in taking chances.

How would your closest friend describe you?
We’ve been through a lot together and I think she would describe me as loyal, strong and passionate.

What are your top three values that you live by?
Honesty, kindness and living in the moment.

Something that makes you stand out from other contestants?
I think because I’m one of the only girls this year who hasn’t been involved in a pageant before, my fresh approach will make me stand out.

What does your current fitness regime look like in the lead up to the state finals ..? I am a dedicated dancer so I’m continuing to do that, but also going for a few gym sessions, and some personal training sessions with Think 24 Hour fitness.

Name five things you can’t live without?
My mum, music, dance, art and chocolate!

What song would you say is your personal anthem or theme song and why…?
Probably Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen. To me that song represents persevering through tough times. Freddie Mercury is also the reason I got into music and that song is just the epitome of his talent.
