Miss Universe Australia Qld finalist - Lily Glover

Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with state finals kicking off across the country.
Starting off our home state interviews is Lily Glover one of the contestants who will be competing for a place in the national final held later this year in Melbourne at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 where the nations finalists will be competing for the title of Miss Universe Australia 2016.

Congratulations on making it so far in the coveted Miss Universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself..? Thank you! I’m 22 years old; I work full time, as well as study at University part time. My favourite and main hobby is athletics training and hitting the gym. In my down time, I love going to the beach and socialising with friends.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia pageant?  I have always been interested in these pageants growing up, and watching beautiful, intelligent women influence the world and their country. So I decided just to apply as I had nothing to lose!

Speaking of inspiration what inspires you most?
I am inspired by determined people, such as Allyson Felix. She is an Olympic champion at track and field, and I believe her determination, patience and hard work is truly admirable. I believe it shows me that anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it.

What is something that you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia pageant? I hope that I gain more self-assurance and believe in myself more. At times, I can doubt my abilities, so it would be great to walk away with a more positive approach which I can carry through life.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are there any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to use the platform of Miss Universe to advance? I would use the Miss Universe platform to highlight the issue of domestic violence. I believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, especially in their home environment and under no circumstance is violence ever is the answer.  Lily Glover

The rivalry between states is sure to be heightened this year why do you think Queensland is the best state to take out Miss Universe Australia?
I believe Queenslanders have the best chance because we are all friendly, in good spirits and tend to lead an active lifestyle because of our amazing year round weather!

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

What is something you find yourself always saying …?
Embarrassingly, I always find myself saying “I’m hungry!”

How would your closest friend describe you?
Always happy

What are your top three values that you live by?
Honesty, loyalty and determination

Something that makes you stand out from other contestants?
I would say my focus as well as my laid back and fun personality

What does your current fitness regime look like in the lead up to the state finals ..? I have kept up the same routine which I usually follow. I train six days a week with a combination of weights and cardio.

Name five things you can’t live without?
Running, chocolate, shopping, the Simpsons, friends and family.

What song would you say is your personal anthem or theme song and why…?
I would say it is Good Feeling by Flo Rida. It is so upbeat and makes me feel positive. It is a regular song in my exercise playlist because it helps me dig a little deeper.
