Well, it’s that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with state finals kicking off across the country.
Starting off our home state interviews is Samantha Roberts one of the contestants who will be competing for a place in the national final held later this year in Melbourne at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 where the nations finalists will be competing for the title of Miss Universe Australia 2016.

Congratulations on making it so far in the coveted Miss Universe Australia competition tell us a little about yourself..?
My name is Samantha Roberts. I am currently studying beauty therapy and also recently completed my studies with children with disabilities and children services. I am a children’s basketball coach as I no longer play so I now assist and coach boys and girls at my local home town stadium.

Who or what inspired you to get involved in the Miss Universe Australia pageant? I’ve always admired the girls that take part in Miss Universe, as Its such a great way to be involved in new and exciting opportunities such as helping raise money for charities in need and I always take any opportunity that comes my way to spread a positive and healthy message to as many people as possible. So being apart of Miss Universe will help spread that word.

Speaking of inspiration what inspires you most?
As I have a very athletic and sporty background. I’d have to say my inspiration for a lot of my life comes from different sporting legends, such as Cathy Freeman, Sally Fitzgibbons and Lauren Jackson are just a few people I take as huge inspirations in my life. They are incredible, and I hope one day to meet them and tell the what an impact they have had on me.

What is something that you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia pageant? I hope it brings me new experiences and helps me grow as a person. Something fun and new to be a part of so I’m looking forward to what the future brings.

The Miss Universe Pageant has a long history of associating with charity are there any social causes that are particularly close to your heart that you would like to use the platform of Miss Universe to advance?
I have always been wanting to support and assist in anyway I can with children with disabilities. I have family members that are disabled and know how hard life can be for them so anything that I’d be able to do to help not just them but others in need, I’d love to use my platform to be a part of.

The rivalry between states is sure to be heightened this year why do you think Queensland is the best state to take out Miss Universe Australia?
I think every state brings something wonderful and cool to the competition. But Queensland is home and I love that we have such a natural, fresh and healthy lifestyle, living in such a great state its hard not to love it.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

What is something you find yourself always saying?
I always seem to be laughing at something. Even really small stupid things, for some reason I just crack up a lot. I do say ” oh god ” thats usually one of the most frequent comments to come out of my mouth haha.

How would your closest friend describe you?
My closest friends would probably say I’m very talkative, very energetic, extremely loud, caring and loyal.

What are your top three values that you live by?
I like to treat people the same way I wish to be treated, that’s something my mums always told me. Never hold on to the past, let things go and move forward. And always give life 100% doing things half paced never gets you anywhere.

Something that makes you stand out from other contestants?
Coming from a sporting background teaches you a lot of things, how to adapt to different situations and how to react to get the best outcome. I think that applies to everyday life a lot and could be something different I bring to miss universe 2016.

What does your current fitness regime look like in the lead up to the state finals ..? I’m always exercising and running, but I’ve changed things up a tad since being a part of Miss Universe I’ve started doing a lot of boxing and a few weights.

Name five things you can’t live without?
Five things I cant live without. My denim jacket, my converses, basketball, My family and the ocean.

What song would you say is your personal anthem or theme song and why?
I love Fleetwood Mac and all of their songs. Its a time of music I adore and have grown up with so Id says I don’t just have one particular anthem, I have a band whos lyrics inspire me, and that would be my anthem.
