Miss Universe QLD Finalist Interview - Benita Williams

Well, Autumn is in full swing, and It’s also that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with state finalists being announced across the country.

So we thought it would be a perfect time to kick off some home state interviews with Benita Williams. Congratulations on making it through to the state finals, why don’t you tell us about yourself?

I’m 25years old Queensland born and raised, so I’m definitely an outdoors girl always at the beach in the sun, swimming in freshwater creeks and walking tracks through the rainforest. I just love living in the beautiful tropical North Queensland. I work at a fashion boutique called Wild Sugar by Sajeela located at the Cairns Pier also do some modeling for them too which I really enjoy. I also work at Holiday Inn on the Cairns Esplanade.

We all have motivations, Mine usually revolves around coffee but what was your key motivation for entering the MUA competition?

My family is my motivation. I’m not only doing this to build up my self-confidence and to get more exposure as a model, but also to inspire both indigenous and non-indigenous girls and boys to be true themselves and do what they’re passionate about. We only have one life, and I think we should do what we love no matter what anybody thinks.

What part of the Miss Universe Australia program are you most looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to the training and rehearsals. I like to look and feel my very best. But at the same time, I like to take on challenges, pushing myself to improve, learn and to grow. Keeping it professionally but having fun at the same time.

We are all unique so what would you say is something that makes you stand out from the other contestants?

Being an indigenous Australian woman with bright eyes that change from green to blue definitely makes me stand out from the rest, so I’m very proud of my unique look which I think is important for people embrace. Being completely comfortable without makeup is a great feeling.

With the state finals, less than a fortnight away, has your routine changed at all?

Slight changes in routine, I’ve definitely started to do more workouts at home before and after work, every chance I get. I’m working harder at my jobs so that I’m all set financially for the travelling involved leading up to the event since I don’t reside in Brisbane. I’ve been very busy preparing myself physically and mentally.

What is something that you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia pageant?

I hope that I will have overall an amazing experience and create new friendships with the other contestants and sponsors involved in this exciting event. I also would love to get other modeling opportunities after participating in MUA 2017.
We will wrap up with a few irrelevant and random questions, now that my coffee has worn off.
Name five things you can’t live without?

1- Family 2- Phone 3- Tweezers 4- Beach 5- Fruit

How long does it take you to scroll through Facebook before giving up?

Not too long probably 2mins Unless there’s something I’m trying to find out then I’d scroll until my boyfriend gives me a look like let it go already haha.

How would your closest friend describe you?

I think she would say that I’m strong, confident, outgoing, inspiring, kind hearted and just a little crazy like her. I have two besties, so this refers to you both if you’re reading this.

When You Dance, You look like?

I like to think I look like Shakira and Beyonce but that’s just me. I probably look uncomfortable on the dance floor unless it’s a girls night out, that’s when I really let my hair down.

Finally, and this one is important, so please pay attention… What do you think pets dream about?

I think pets dream about food and their owners and the puppies that bark in their sleep I always think it’s them protecting themselves from someone or something that’s dangerous, always cute to watch.
So not long now until this highly anticipated event that will see 28 of QLD’s most beautiful women compete to secure a spot as a QLD National Finalist, and go on to compete in and represent QLD in the Miss Universe Australia National Final. Get Your Ticket Here
