Well, Autumn is in full swing, and It’s also that time of year when the search to find Miss Universe Australia is well underway with state finalists being announced across the country.
So we thought it would be a perfect time to kick off some home state interviews with Christy Taylor. Congratulations on making it through to the state finals, why don’t you tell us about yourself?
Sure! I have been modeling since I was 13 years old. I have a huge passion for every aspect of the industry and hope to pursue this more. I currently am the manager of a Chiropractic Clinic on the Gold Coast and enjoy helping people get healthier every day. I’m an avid traveller and was lucky enough to backpack through Europe for 4.5 months where I visited 11 incredible countries!
We all have motivations, Mine usually revolves around coffee but what was your key motivation for entering the MUA competition?
I’m extremely passionate about healthy body image and want to be a role model for younger girls who are interested in the industry. I hope to portray this to everyone throughout the competition and show that you can do anything you put your mind to.
What part of the Miss Universe Australia program are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to meeting the other Finalists along with the amazing team building workshops we get to experience. It’s an incredible opportunity that helps with self-development and we are so lucky to have such wonderful sponsors who are taking care of us to make sure we are prepared for the finals.
We are all unique so what would you say is something that makes you stand out from the other contestants?
I feel I have an ability to talk through all kinds of situations. Throughout my life I have always loved public speaking, which I know a lot of people find difficult. I believe this is unique in someone so young. I also know not to take myself too seriously and have a self-deprecating sense of humor.
With the state finals, less than a fortnight away, has your routine changed at all?
Absolutely! I generally live a healthy lifestyle but have increased my exercise and cleaned up my diet more! I’ve joined a boot camp to help with motivation and team building.
What is something that you hope to bring out of the Miss Universe Australia pageant?
I hope by taking up this opportunity I become a more composed, refined version of myself. I want to learn the life lessons that come from such an experience, which requires focus, determination and being confident in your own skin.
We will wrap up with a few irrelevant and random questions, now that my coffee has worn off.
Name five things you can’t live without?
Family, friendships, passport, a really good breakfast, and my camera because I love to create memories.
How long does it take you to scroll through Facebook before giving up?
I generally start to get bored after about 5 minutes!
How would your closest friend describe you?
I believe they would say I’m a very passionate person who puts a lot of thought and love into everything I do. I’m a loyal and dedicated person who turns any adversity into a positive challenge.
When You Dance, You look like?
An uncoordinated giraffe! Seriously though, it can be quite the laugh.
Finally, and this one is important, so please pay attention… What do you think pets dream about?
Well I know most humans always ponder on what kind of animal they would come back as so perhaps pets would dream about the kind of person they would be.
