The Power of Purpose: Lorna Jane on Fitness, Mindset, and Community

Lorna Jane has a passion for living an active life. She started out as a fitness instructor, designing her own activewear pieces because she couldn’t find anything on the market that suited her. As more and more women began to ask where they could buy her designs, she realized she was onto something. Fast-forward to today, and Lorna Jane is a global phenomenon—an active lifestyle brand inspiring women around the world to Move, Nourish, Believe. With over 114 concept stores in Australia, 16 in the United States, and an ever-growing online presence, the label has become synonymous with style, function, and empowerment.

“I never set out to create a massive brand,” Lorna explains. “I simply wanted to design activewear that would make women feel good about themselves, while also supporting them in their fitness journeys. The fact that so many women connected with that message is both humbling and incredibly rewarding.”

Her brand is built on the philosophy of Move, Nourish, Believe—an approach to living that encourages women to embrace exercise, eat healthily, and cultivate a positive mindset. “It’s not just about what you wear,” Lorna says. “It’s about how you live your life every day.”

Lorna’s success didn’t happen overnight. She spent years teaching fitness classes, sewing her own designs, and building relationships with her customers. “I was lucky because I was designing for real women who were taking my classes. I could see firsthand what worked and what didn’t. It was a very organic process.”

Now, with a global following, Lorna remains as hands-on as ever—overseeing design, branding, and messaging. “I want every woman who wears Lorna Jane to feel inspired to live her best life. That means creating pieces that are stylish, functional, and above all, empowering.”

It’s not surprising my passions are based around helping women discover and nurture themselves from the inside out. The older I get, the more important it is for me to take care of myself—and to help others do the same.

My philosophy is that women can accomplish anything they set their minds to if they take care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is why I created the Move, Nourish, Believe philosophy. It’s about moving your body daily, nourishing from within, and believing in yourself. It’s simple, yet transformative.

I’ve watched women transform their lives by adopting this mindset, and it’s incredibly rewarding. The next generation is more aware of the importance of health and well-being, and I’m excited to see how they continue to embrace and evolve this movement. It’s about creating a generation of change—women who prioritize self-care, who support each other, and who believe in the power of community. That’s the future I want to see.

For me, it’s always been about making a difference, not just making a profit. If you can create something that truly helps people and improves their lives, the rest will follow. I encourage women to find their passion and pursue it wholeheartedly, no matter how big or small that dream might be. Because when you do something you love, you’re more likely to succeed—and, more importantly, you’re more likely to be happy.

So here’s to the next generation of women—may they move, nourish, and believe in themselves every single day.
