River House will host the next instalment of its Art Series Dinner on Wednesday 11 November, inviting guests to discover the story behind local artist Bec Talbot’s work while enjoying waterfront dining on the Nerang River in Southport. The event brings together art, and culinary craft for an evening dedicated to local creative talent.
Guests attending the event will hear directly from Bec Talbot regarding how she found her way into art and the personal journey that has shaped her creative practice. Her collection, The Turning, will be showcased throughout the venue during the evening. For Talbot, the occasion offers an opportunity to share the inspiration and experiences behind The Turning, inviting attendees to look beyond the finished works and discover the stories that inform her art. Talbot noted that the evening would offer guests a closer insight into her creative journey and the ideas behind her collection.
River House co-owner Kristee Jenkins said the Art Series was about creating meaningful experiences that bring people together through creativity, conversation and exceptional hospitality.

“Art has a wonderful way of connecting people and encouraging conversation. The Art Series gives our guests the opportunity to meet the artists, hear their stories and experience their work in a setting that encourages people to slow down, connect and enjoy the moment,” said Jenkins.
“Bec’s collection, The Turning, provides a beautiful opportunity to explore the journey behind the work while enjoying an evening of food, art and conversation at River House.”
Located at 2 Barney Street, Southport, River House provides the setting for an intimate evening celebrating the connection between art, place and the people behind the work. Operating under the guiding philosophy, “One house, three rooms, and the lost art of lingering,” the venue brings together hospitality, atmosphere and a sense of place on the Nerang River. The Art Series Dinner with Bec Talbot continues this approach, bringing art and dining together for an evening designed to be savoured and encouraging guests to take their time, enjoy good food and share memorable experiences.
The evening begins at 6pm on Wednesday 11 November, with tickets priced at $99 per person, including a two-course dinner and a house beverage on arrival. Diners can select from two main course options: grilled chicken with mushroom risotto, tarragon and chardonnay jus; or Coral Coast barramundi served with roasted chat potatoes, seasonal vegetables and lemon beurre blanc. For dessert, guests can choose between a lemon tart with meringue, lemon sorbet and double cream; or sticky date pudding served with butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream.
