I have a feeling that working passionately in small, confident ways could be the best way to move through this big, astonishing, complicated world. This is @eleea, a fierce, young musician making her mark on the GC music scene. She has a certain shine, a spark of her own sacred independence that seems to filter through each lyric she creates.
“I’m a country girl, born into a very musical family so music has surrounded me for as long as I can remember. It’s an amazing form of self-expression and this creative outlet is a beautiful part of my life. This year I’ve released what I call my ‘travel collection’ as I’m an avid solo traveller. I’ve written a song about every country I’ve visited… over 100 songs now and I found it a great way to record my own growth. I’m actually a really happy person yet I write sad songs. I’m a believer in taking negative emotion and turning it into something beautiful. It can tip the whole experience on its head. We can no longer regret bad things that happen if they’re turned into something beautiful. People seem to be able to connect with that.
My dreams? I think I’m living them but I definitely want to write more music and connect my love of travel with my love of music. My mother has always inspired me to go for my dreams so I do dream big. Perhaps you don’t have to wait. You just need to go for it. This year has been testing and self-doubt is challenging. It takes a fire within to propel you forward but I love that I can process tough stuff through music, get it out and deal with it. As I said, there’s power in being a happy person who can write sad songs. One of the best lessons I’ve learnt is to just get out of the house, meet people, go for it and say yes to things. There is such value in that, such fun too”.
Thanks for being you Eleea ! In the words of Tom Petty… ” Music is the only real magic in my life. There’s no trick to it. It’s pure and it’s real. It moves. It heals. It communicates…” When musicians like you do this work, it is profound. They make space for us in their expansive story, and we get to not only find ourselves within it, but meet each other there. How incredible is that gift?
