A new movement in fitness is gaining momentum in Australia, and it comes with feather boas, confidence and a playful dose of burlesque-inspired energy.
Created by Australian dance and fitness educator Melony Cherrett, Fitesque is where fitness meets burlesque — a confidence-led movement experience designed to help people feel strong, expressive and unapologetically themselves.
Blending burlesque-inspired choreography with dance fitness, strength, cardio and community, Fitesque offers a fresh alternative to traditional workouts. Rather than focusing on perfection, performance or physical transformation alone, the concept is built around confidence, self-expression and fun.
Its “boas over burpees” philosophy has already captured attention for making fitness feel more playful, feminine and freeing. Participants are invited to move, laugh, strut and shake in a way that feels more like self-expression than a standard gym class.
Now, with the launch of its Certified Fitesque Instructor training, the brand is opening the door for more women to bring the experience into their own communities.
The instructor pathway has been designed as a low-barrier opportunity for women looking for flexible income, a creative side hustle or a new career direction. It is attracting people from a range of backgrounds, including dance lovers, fitness instructors, nurses, shift workers, 9-to-5 professionals and women looking to do something different.
The training is delivered online in one day and provides instructors with access to choreography, original music, marketing tools and ongoing support, allowing them to teach Fitesque classes without needing to build everything from scratch.
At the centre of the brand is Cherrett herself, a former professional dancer, cruise ship performer, mother of two and founder of Choo La La Burlesque Fusion. Having seen thousands of women build confidence through movement and performance, Cherrett created Fitesque to make that feeling more accessible — without requiring a 12-week program, costumes or a stage performance.
“Through Choo La La, I saw how powerful movement could be for women’s confidence,” says Cherrett. “But not everyone wants the stage. Fitesque was created for people who want the feeling — the confidence, the freedom, the connection — in a more accessible fitness format.”
With its Founding 50 Instructor Offer now open, Fitesque is positioning itself as more than a fitness class. It is becoming a confidence-led movement and a flexible income pathway for women who want to turn their love of movement, music and community into something of their own.
As confidence-led fitness continues to grow, Fitesque offers something distinct: a workout that is playful, empowering and unapologetically fun — and an instructor model that gives more women the opportunity to lead it.
