Today we are catching up with Lily Goodare of Queensland, one of the 24 talented and inspiring women from all walks of life who are hoping to be crowned Miss Universe Australia 2023 at The Sofitel Melbourne on Collins this Friday.

So, Lily why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

I am 23 years old living on the Gold Coast and I own a digital marketing agency and also studying to be a commercial pilot.

We all have motivations, mine usually around good coffee, but what was your key motivation for entering Miss Universe Australia?

I participated in Miss Universe Australia in 2021 and it really helped shape me as the woman I am today. I had so many amazing experiences from the program and created lifelong friendships so I decided to re-enter this year with a lot more life experience and a better understanding of my goals.

Through my passion with business, I want to inspire younger entrepreneurs to chase their dreams and believe that nothing is impossible. I am a voice for those who may have been disadvantaged, and I simply believe that together we break the cycle. I want to become a motivation to anyone that has a passion and dream they feel like they cannot achieve or that they are not worthy of. I feel like I am living proof that the limit does not exist and your determination and passion will drive success however you would define it.

I have been an ambassador for the StandbyU Foundation since 2021, which is a foundation that supports families and victims of domestic violence. Their holistic approach is something that should be promoted across the world. Together we understand how important our connections are with our families and friends more than anything and StandbyU can help that come to fruition when those connections don’t feel as strong.

As part of the program, you recently went on the National Finalist Trip to Vietnam at Furama Resort Da Nang, what was the experience like?

It was so liberating to be with such inspiring young women, and to be able to be with them overseas was an unforgettable experience. I’m so grateful for the resort we stayed at as it was beyond my expectations. There was so much gratitude and happiness created for all those involved with the trip. The incredible team made it so seamless and made everything possible. Furama Resort Da Nang is one of my all time favourite places I have ever had the opportunity to go to.

What would you say was the highlight of your trip?

I was privileged enough to be able to take a step back and really soak in the amazing moment when I was on the beach. The team and I were playing beach volleyball, which I wasn’t the best at. It was just such a beautiful moment to be there and I was so grateful that I was surrounded by all of these wonderful people, and it was a moment that I will cherish forever.

With everyone bringing their own unique and individual flair to the program, what is something that sets you apart from the other finalists?

My friends say that I’m a go-getter. I do not stop working on my goals and dreams. I am proud of my hard work and determination and I believe these are some of my strongest traits. I don’t give up and this is my mentality. I really believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. I try and fill my life with giving and kindness. I feel I really want to help younger people have a life of their dreams and to follow what makes them happy.

If you could ask our current Miss Universe Australia, Monique Riley, one question, what would it be and why?

What do you think has been the most rewarding part of Miss Universe?

Tell us something you’re passionate about and why?

I’m passionate about flying and giving back. These are two things that I have been obsessed with my whole life. I will own my own charter business before the age of 30 and I am taking steps to ensure this dream of mine comes to life.

To finish up the interview we have a few quick questions

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would live in Greece. This place has a special piece of my heart, and I love immersing myself with the culture, beautiful landscapes and people.

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off?

I don’t have days off. Every day I make sure I learn a new skill or help the world in one way or another. Every day is a new opportunity for me to grow as a person and help those around me be the best versions of themselves.

What makes you laugh out loud?

I am in a constant laughing fit when I’m around my best friends and it gets to the point when we are literally crying in pain because we cannot stop laughing. It is the best feeling in the world.
