Some of Melbourne’s favourite foodie destinations – Huxtaburger, Biggie Smalls Kbabs, Saigon Sally, Hanoi Hannah and Gelato Messina – will pop up in The Park, Flemington’s official playground this Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The gastronomic lineup, including the Victoria Racing Club’s (VRC) own Pony Bar, will highlight the city’s culinary credentials to patrons of Australia’s most celebrated major event.
On The Park menu will be Shane Delia’s signature Biggie Smalls Kbabs and golden crispy crinkles, Daniel Wilson’s famous Huxtaburger’s, and Hanoi Hannah and Saigon Sally’s Vietnamese hawker style eats.
For sweet tooths, Gelato Messina will be scooping specially created soft serve sundaes, and cult favourite Doughnut Time will be baking every day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, including a hand-dipped Carnival themed creation.
VRC Executive General Manager Customer Engagement Caroline Ralphsmith said The Park’s fabulous new foodie destinations will offer a culinary haven never experienced before at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
“With pop-ups from award-winning Melbourne restaurateurs including Shane Delia and Daniel Wilson, The Park is set to be the place to indulge in the city’s best food and beverages this Melbourne Cup Carnival,” Ms Ralphsmith said.
“Spoilt for choice, racegoers will have the opportunity to tailor their experience depending on what their tastebuds fancy. There truly is something for everyone.”
The Park will also include picnic-style hampers from Primo Deli, sweet Knafeh from the all-singing all-dancingBearded Bakers and southern-style BBQ from Burn City Smokers.
Adding to the culinary journey, the two-storey Yellowglen Terrace, Cocktail Caravan Park and James Boag’s Premium Bar will offer racegoers the perfect beverage accompaniments to their food of choice and coffee lovers can get their fix thanks to the Lavazza Coffee Bar.
With a footprint of 10,000 square metres, The Park will be a playground of endless excitement and colour, including the world’s largest Myer Fashions on the Field enclosure, live entertainment and a myriad of activations from our official sponsors alongside a vintage Ferris wheel and carousel.
It is only 18 days until the VRC lifts the curtain on AAMI Victoria Derby Day on 29 October, followed by Emirates Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 1 November, Crown Oaks Day on Thursday 3 November and Emirates Stakes Day on Saturday 5 November.
Racegoers who snap up this year’s early bird general admission ticket offer will experience the Melbourne Cup Carnival at 2008 prices. Children under 16 are entitled to FREE general admission — a rarity for a major event.
