To celebrate the release of LEGO Dimensions in Australia, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment Australia has quizzed the country on their favourite pop culture characters of all time from iconic franchises including DC Comics, Back To The Future and The Simpsons.
Travelling across time and space to take the number one spot as Australia’s favourite character is Doctor Who. Whovians are in for a treat with each of his twelve incarnations and TARDIS interiors appearing in the game. The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi also voices his iteration of the iconic character in the game. Everyone’s favourite cartoon dadHomer Simpson is Australia’s second most loved character, with man of steel, Superman flying in third.
Homer Simpson’s famous annoyed utterance, “D’oh”, is also the favourite catchphrase for both men and women across the country. Aussies also love Superman’s, “Up, Up and Away” and Gollum’s infamous line from The Lord of the Rings, “My precious”.
When it comes to dinner guests, Australians want someone well travelled with a riveting story. Doctor Who was again voted the most interesting dinner guest followed by the wise wizard Gandalf, and Back to the Future’s wacky Doc Brown.
The endless debate of Batman vs. Superman has finally been resolved with Superman coming out on top as Australia’s favourite hero (25%) over Batman (16%). The caped crusader was also less popular with women with Wonder Woman replacing him as the second most popular hero after Superman.
Proving that an evil cackle and a flamboyant dress sense goes a long way, 56% of Australia chose The Joker as their favourite villain, followed by The Wizard of Oz’s Wicked Witch of the West, with Gollum crawling into third place.
In terms of the characters that most remind us of our childhood, Superman again reigned supreme with the most votes, followed by everyone’s favourite crime-solving canineScooby-Doo and Doctor Who again making an appearance to round out the top three.
